Walton, home to the Walton Barite mine, with one of the world's largest barite deposits, also contains deposits of lead, zinc, silver, and copper. Walton is located in East Hants, Nova Scotia, Canada and Acadians lived in the village, before their Expulsion. Walton was a shipbuilding centre in the 19th and many ships built we used to carry gypsum and later barite which was mined here. The lighthouse which still stands today as a heritage landmark, aided ships into the port of Walton.
