On Kladesholmen you will find a special kind of nature that is typical for the archipelago of Bohuslan- province, with splendid salty baths, nice people and plenty of coast activities like sailing, scuba diving and deep-sea fishing.

The island has been of great importance for the people in the archipelago, especially during the historical periods of herring fishing between 1748-1808. The latest great herring period in the 1870s vitalized Kladesholmen and the foundation was laid for our herring cannery. The tradition lives on to this day and you can now also visit - the Cannery Museum for a retrospective and historical view on Kladesholmen.

In the year of 1983 the bridge between Tjorn and Kladeshomen was finished which had a great influence on the island and increased logistics possibilities. Since the bridge was built there are the regular road standard that allows car traffic over the nearly the whole island.

The site's strong connection to the herring has been evident in many hundreds of years. In the generation after generation the island has developed a pickled herring delicacy.
