Brackenfell is a fast growing community. It is mainly an Afrikaans community, but with the property growth many young couples from various cultural groups are drawn to Brackenfell, because it is generally still quite affordable to buy or rent there. This suburb has a very good town planning infrastructure with good schools, churches and other community related institutions.

The well known Rhema Cape Town North Church is also situated in Brackenfell. Vredekloof is an up and coming area of Brackenfell that a lot of young people are moving to. One popular hang out in Vredekloof is the "Silwerbrakke" (Silverdogs) place where the Silverbrakke themselves cook food for their guests on roaring fires while they all enjoy a well deserved beer or brandy.
