  • The Saint Croix Island International Historic Site

    The Saint Croix Island International Historic Site in Calais, Maine is open year round during daylight hours and was originally called Muttoneguis by the Native Americans who had used it for many years before the French arrived. Come walk the interpretive trail, go on a ranger led program to learn more about the park and its fascinating history, enjoy a picnic, do some bird watching, relax and take in the beautiful scenery. Guided tours are available most days from Mid May through Columbus day, and a park ranger is there most days. The Saint Croix Island International Historic Site has a mainland facility, with ranger station, interpretive trail and shelter, a parking lot, pathways and restrooms, and there's no public access to Saint Croix Island, come learn about the beginning of French presence in North America.
