Welcome to Woodwind Adventures, Gustavus, Alaska. Woodwind Adventures is located in Gustavus, Alaska, the gateway to Glacier Bay. We offer a Glacier Bay boat charter, whale watching and Southeast Alaska sightseeing tours. Our 40' Sailing catamaran, the "Great Sea", is spacious and comfortable: a perfect base from which to explore the spectacular scenery and wildlife of Glacier Bay and Northern Southeast Alaska.

We specialize in natural history tours including whale watching, birding, marine mammals or whatever interests you. It would be our pleasure to arrange a trip that focuses on your interests. An Alaska state certified naturalist will be onboard.  Our boat can carry kayaks to allow you to explore shorelines up close or we can put you ashore with a guide to walk the beach.  We love to sail and when the wind is up that's what we do. Sailing seems to us to be the best way to travel in these waters where there is abundant wildlife and natural beauty.

Fritz Koschmann, the builder and captain of the "Great Sea", has lived for 50 years in Southeast Alaska including 30 years in and around Glacier Bay. From his early years in Sitka and Juneau he has always had a passion for boats and the sea. He holds a United States Coast Guard 50 ton Masters license for sail and power. Fritz has operated a variety of private charter boats and worked for Glacier Bay National Park as a boat captain for 18 years.  Woodwind Adventures,is an authorized concessioner for Glacier Bay National Park.
