The Palmer Home carriage house was selected by the Travel Channel (Samantha Brown) as the best vacation spot in Charleston. You can still see the program some mornings between 10:00 and 12:00. The Palmer Home was built in 1848 by John Ravenel, whose son designed the "Little David", the first semi-submersible vessel and the forerunner to the submarine.
