Mifflin's Salt Water Taffy

Mifflin's Salt Water Taffy in Balboa, Orange County, United States | Food

Mifflin's Salt Water Taffy was started back in 1969 by a single mother and her two sons, ages 12 and 5. What was she thinking! The original store was located in the Balboa Fun Zone, and served sno-cones, cotton candy, popcorn, licorice, fudge, and caramel corn, as well as salt water taffy. Every summer was spent by all three at the beach working in the store. For 6 years the family also managed the hamburger stand next door.
After one move, and 35 years later, the store is still owned by the same single mother, now better known in town as "The Taffy Lady". Although both kids have grown up and gone on to other things, the store continues on.
And If you didn't know, if you stop in to the store and say a Bible verse, you will get a free piece if licorice! Anyone can get a can of root beer for 25 cents, as long as you come in the store to get it yourself, and only one a day per person!
