The Melgeorge family carved Melgeorges Elephant Lake Lodge and Resortt out of the timberlands at a logging campsite more than 70 years ago in Orr, Minnesota, United States.

Since its humble beginnings, with a few lakeshore cabins for anglers, three generations of Melgeorges have created a quality, year-round adventure vacation destination.

Elephant Lake:

Is one of Ron Schara’s 2008 Top Ten Deadly Minnesota Walleye lakes

Offers excellent walleye and black crappie fishing—quests also frequently catch their limit of smallmouth bass, bluegills and northern pike

Can be fished using small craft in bad weather

Has many bays, structure and a large island in the middle

Is home to eagles, osprey, turkey buzzards, and an abundance of migrating and wading birds



Outdoorsmen of all kinds frequent Melgeorge’s, and some of our guests have been coming back for more than 50 years.
