Hayward Area Historical Society in Hayward, California, was established in 1956 for the purpose of preserving local history, and today this sizeable Museum consists of four galleries, a research library, archives and a cafe that serves delicious refreshments. Our Historical Society has, over the years, gathered a considerable collection of archival documents, photographs, paintings, school memorabilia, furniture, toys and many more items. To inform the public on past historical events, Hayward Area Historical Society offers educational programs, interpretive Exhibitions, artifacts that give a true reflection of the history of our area. And at the end of an interesting and informative tour, visitors can relax at The Cannery and enjoy welcome refreshments.
