The Gun Flint Tavern opened May 23, 1998 in the former Grand Marais State Bank Building, now called the Firewood Common. Next door is the Johnson Heritage Post, sight of the old trading post that supplied the trappers and explorers heading north on the old wagon road that would later be known as the Gun Flint Trail. I'm sure many a trip inland started and ended on the very site of Gun Flint Tavern, just as they do today. Sit back and treat yourself to any of our wonderful menu selections, or just have a beer or glass of wine and enjoy the view, select music and our smoke-free establishment.
Gun Flint Tavern is Grand Marais Premier Blues and Jazz Club, with some of the best acts from all over Minnesota. This does not mean that you won't hear Reggae, Folk, Celtic, Rock and a ragtime jug-band from time to time. Gun Flint Tavern offers eclectic and ethnic fare with many vegetarian choices, craft made soups and desserts.
