The Bicycle

The Bicycle in Baltimore, Maryland, United States | A la Carte Restaurants

Welcome to The Bicycle in Baltimore, United States.   Just a few steps into The Bicycle, a Federal Hill restaurant, you'll notice an open kitchen takes center stage, -much like the food. Oversized windows and sparse furnishings stave off claustrophobia in the warren of cozy dining rooms, as earthy green and brown tones warm the minimalist background.

At The Bicycle, "small plate" starters such as tuna and avocado tartare and lobster ravioli are anything but small. The tartare's whirlwind of Asian-influenced flavors highlights its freshness. In the red pepper bisque with Maryland blue crab, the piquant punch of the spices makes the sweet crab a mere sidekick. The Hereford tenderloin medallion stands out in a triumvirate-of-meat dish, where the Kobe beef top sirloin and short ribs in a Burgundy reduction sauce took the silver and bronze in a close competition.

Time flies. It’s been a year and a few months now that chef Nicholas Batey and general manager Saundra Jackson have been running The Bicycle after buying the Federal Hill charmer from Barry Rumsey and Deborah Mazzoleni. The Bicycle is humming with its characteristic downtown Baltimore energy and the food is better than ever.

Everything that always made The Bicycle so appealing is still in place. It still feels like a night out here, the bright and intimate interior still shimmers with possibilities of good city living
