Welcome to Bamboo Room Restaurant, our non-smoking establishment in Haines, Alaska, the home away from home for many locals and visitors. My husband Bob Fowler and I took over the business in 1991 when my parents Marty & Helen Tengs retired after 40 years "behind bars". As my father always said, "You are a stranger here but once."

We hope you will enjoy the All-American menu, famous halibut & chips and friendly service at the Bamboo Room Restaurant, where being out to lunch is a good thing.

Why the "Bamboo Room?"In 1953, Marty and Helen Tengs purchased the Pioneer Bar. The area adjoining the bar was a card room which was transformed into a restaurant leased by Fran Fox. To separate the bar from the restaurant, Fran hung a bamboo curtain the length of the room and named it the Bamboo Room Restaurant."

We serve All-American food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We specialize in seafood and are best known for our locally caught Halibut Fish & Chips. Appetizers include Jalapeno Poppers, Teriyaki Pork Ribs, Quesadillas, popcorn shrimp and tater skins. We offer healthy heart and vegetarian items too.
