Welcome to the Ann Starrett Mansion, a victorian boutique Hotel in Port Townsend, Washington.
This magnificent mansion, considered the most elaborate and unique Victorian in Port Townsend, was built by George Starrett for his wife Ann in 1889. Starrett was the city's leading contractor and once boasted that he had built up to 350 houses. His own $6,000 mansion is a successfully integrated mixture of styles. The mansion is now internationally known for its architecture, frescoed ceilings, and free-hung three-tiered staircase which leads to a rare solar calendar at the ceiling of the octagonal tower.
Ann Starrett adorned her home with frescoes and stained glass, as well as carved lions from her family crest, doves and ferns. The history of the house is said to have included a role in the transporting of bootlegged liquor during Prohibition. In 1986, Bob and Edel Sokol purchased the house and began extensive restorations. The house has been awarded the National Trust for Historic Preservation "Great American Home Award." The Ann Starrett Mansion has 11 well furnished rooms available.
