Recife in Pernambuco State, Brazil is known as the Venice of Brazil. It is a beautiful city criss-crossed with waterways, islands and bridges where the Beberibe and Capibaribe Rivers meet and flow into the Atlantic Ocean.

Recife is the main city of Pernambuco, Brazil. It boasts grand colonial architecture lying alongside the waterways that earn Recife the title of the Venice of Brazil. The city lies close to the equator so the weather is warm and tropical all year round.

Recife gets its name from the coral reefs that line the coastline and holidaymakers flock to the host of beautiful beaches along its shores. You will often see beautiful sails of the traditional jangadas, dugout sailboats used by local fishermen up and down the coast. The beach atmosphere is vintage Miami beach.

Recife is popular with artists and musicians. It even boasts its own style of music, a fusion of musical styles with a distinctly Pernamubuco flavour. During carnival the streets of Recife come alive with party goers enjoying the celebration and dancing the frevo, another distinctly regional flavour.
