MS Oasis of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise liner, set off on her maiden voyage on 5 December 2009. Oasis of the Seas heralds a new era in the cruise liner industry: custom built megaliners that are more like floating cities.

MS Oasis of the Seas is 40% bigger than any other cruise liner on the oceans, 5 times the weight of the Titanic and longer than an aircraft carrier. Cruise passengers can look forward to a veritable city on the oceans.

Oasis of the Seas can carry over 6,000 passengers and a crew of 2,291 to look after them. Passengers can stay in loft apartments and luxury suites that have balconies where guests can enjoy views either over the ocean or the promenades and parks that make up the centre of the ship.

The cruise ship is organised into 7 themed areas called neighbourhoods each with their own identity. Central Park lies at the heart of the ship, featuring a massive garden of over 12,000 plants and trees. It is criss-crossed with pathways and surrounded by cafes and restaurants where you can watch the world go by. 334 staterooms tower 5 decks high overlooking the Park.

Oasis of the Seas offers plenty of amusement, many features available for the first time on a cruise ship. There are climbing walls, a chess garden, aqua theatre, fairground carousel, zipline adrenaline rides from the top levels, a rising tide bar, miniature golf, ice-skating rink, basketball court .. the list is endless! The 16 passenger decks have shopping precincts, 4 swimming pools and 10 whirlpools. There are 37 bars and restaurants, 4,100 toilets, 42 lifts and 4,500 air conditioning units.

The cost of a 7-night cruise starts at $1,049 for an inside cabin, while the Royal Loft Suite with 2 stories, private balcony and baby grand piano will set you back over $16,000 per person.
