The Whangaparaoa peninsula lies just 25 kilometres to the south of the city of Auckland and is a popular retreat from the city.

The town marks the start of the Hibiscus Coast. Once a remote settlement, Whangaparaoa now boasts a thriving shopping centre and plenty of attractions.
