Agates are beautiful semi-precious stones that are translucent in light. There are many different colors and designs to each stone making each one a unique find. Many beach goers also find Japanese Floats that make it to our beach after strong West winds. There are three other beach accesses in town each with its own charm and beauty; Agate Beach, the Port Beach and Battle Rock Beach.

Surfers and wind surfers alike will be surprised that the water temperature is similar to Santa Cruz and the Bay Area. We are host to two special rivers, the Elk and Sixes. These rivers are home to enormous salmon and steelhead that migrate up river each year. We also have an ocean going fishing or diving charter available at the Dock, making Port Orford truly a heaven on earth for fishing aficionados. The southern Oregon coast is home to many state parks filled with breathtaking views of the surrounding coastline and mountain peaks. There are hundreds of trails for hiking and mountain biking. Port Orford has three beautiful State Parks within its immediate area. Humbug Mountain State Park, Port Orford Heads State Park with hiking trails and the Port Orford Lifeboat Station museum, and Cape Blanco State Park with the lighthouse and historic Hughes house to tour. If you enjoy golf, we are within a 15-30 minute drive to spectacular, world renowned golf courses. At the top of the list is Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. Bandon Dunes plays host to golf's elite and many celebrities. People like Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan take advantage of this challenging and awe-inspiring course. We have many small exclusive galleries displaying various types of art including pottery, wood turning, photography, paintings and hand crafted gifts. Each one of our galleries offers something different and many of the galleries hold special open houses.
