Trinidad And Tobago is the southernmost link in the Antillean island chain, lying just off the coast of Venezuela. Geologically, the islands are extensions of the South American mainland. It is the people who are the main attraction on Trinidad, the most cosmopolitan island in the Caribbean. This is the birthplace of the steel pan (the national instrument), limbo, calypso, and soca (a harder-edged version of calypso). Trinidad is one of the most industrialized nations in the Caribbean, and is also the home of Angostura Bitters, (the recipe for which remains a closely guarded secret!) Tiny Tobago, in contrast, is relaxed, slow-paced and largely undeveloped.
