Jamaica info

It is about 145 kilometres (90 mi) south of Cuba, and 190 kilometres (120 mi) west of the island of Hispaniola, on which Haiti and the Dominican Republic are situated. Its indigenous Arawakan-speaking Taíno inhabitants named the island Xaymaca, meaning the "Land of Wood and Water", or the "Land of Springs". Formerly a Spanish possession known as Santiago, it later became the British Crown colony of Jamaica. It is the third most populous anglophone country in North America, after the United States and Canada. It remains a Commonwealth realm.

Each area of this vast island is completely different...from the dramatic Blue Mountains in the eastern interior to the limestone caves on the west coast....

Planning your trip to Negril is half the fun. Besides choosing where you will sleep at night, you probably are considering all the fun things you can do in Negril as well. Of course you have the usual water sports like snorkeling, SCUBA, parasailing, jet skiing, sailing a sunfish and more. But there are places to see just a short hop away from your hotel and right here in Negril. Be sure to stop by for a visit to the historic Negril Lighthouse....
