Garopaba is located on the southern coast of the State of Santa Catarina, and has 8 beaches, each boasting unique attractions. During the 1970's, "foreigners" carrying backpacks and tents discovered this then small fishermen's village, and started to lend the place a different atmosphere and colour. This triggered changes that led to what, today, is a town which, thanks to an adequate urban land legislation, still preserves the features of the original "village", with one and two-story residences.
Blessed by nature with beauty, the town is ideal for ecotourism and the practice of sports such as: surf, windsurf, hang gliding, paragliding, trekking and enduro. For those who appreciate lively parties and lively people, there are some fancy meeting "points" along Ferrugem beach.
Climate is moderate and humid, without a dry season. Summer is hot, with average annual temperature of 18ºC, but reaching peak temperatures close to 40ºC. Winter is mild, with average temperatures of 10ºC.
