Tera del Mar Bed and Breakfast is a purpose-built B&B in the old Victorian Villa style located on 72 acres high on Pakiri Ridge. Opened in 2003, every detail is designed for optimum guest comfort and privacy. Escape to panoramic ocean, coastal and countryside views in private and peaceful surrounds; a delicious two-course gourmet breakfast; outdoor spa & sauna; wood burning fireplaces; plus so much more at our comfortable, luxury bed & breakfast. From our panoramic view over Leigh, we look over the vast blue Pacific Ocean; the Hen and Chicken Islands; nine-miles of Pakiri Beach white sands; along with an unspoiled and rural vista of Pakiri Valley and beyond to Whangarei Heads.

The Guest Lounge has a large open fireplace; a surround-sound system with a 43" Plasma screen and extensive DVD collection; plus a variety of complimentary wine, beverages & nibbles. (Note: In keeping with our retreat atmosphere, there is NO TV or Cable on-site.)

Ocean Views from Every Room. The Blue Room: SLeigh queen bed with expansive ocean & garden views, features en suite, bay window, fireplace, afternoon sun & winter sunsets. Green Room: Four-posted queen bed with expansive ocean & garden views, features en suite, bay window, fireplace & morning sun.

Rose Room: SLeigh queen bed with en suite plus an ocean & garden views. (This room has no fireplace.) Yellow Room: Super King/Twin Beds with an ocean & garden views, fireplace and private, luxury bathroom two meters from the room featuring a double spa (Jacuzzi) and a large shower.

Pakiri Beach is a must for pristine walks on nine-miles of white sands. Enjoy swimming, surfing & sand-castle building or treat yourself to a one or two-hour Horse Ride on Pakiri Beach.

After breakfast on a Saturday morning, drive 20 minutes to Matakana Village to explore the 10 boutique shops & the well-known Farmers Market open year-round until 1pm for a wide array of foods, wines & produce. The Village is also fun to explore on its own anytime of the week & the independent Matakana Cinemas is great on a rainy day!

The area also hosts a second Farmers Market on Saturday mornings at Matakana Country Park located just five minutes east of Matakana Village. Here you will find a quality Art Gallery, large Craft Co-Operative; the Kitchen Cafe and a family atmosphere of fun.

Or work off your big breakfast, by taking a Scenic Ridge walk along Rodney Road for amazing 360-degree views -- weather permitting!! Nearby coastal & bush walks are also available.

For some time on the ocean take a cruise to Kawau Island for some lovely views, walks and to see historic Mansion House.

Goat Island Marine Reserve is best experienced via the Glass Bottom Boat and Snorkeling or Diving with Goat Island Dive. Kayaking and swimming are also popular.
