Welcome to the Stuttering Treatment and Research Trust, Parnell, Auckland, New Zealand. Stuttering Treatment and Research Trust, Parnell, Auckland is a registered Trust established in 1995 to provide a comprehensive assessment and treatment service for people who stutter. Over the last 12 years Stuttering Treatment and Research Trust has expanded. In addition to services to our clients we ar now also involved in research activities and provide education and information for professionals and members of the public. It is our mission to be a Centre of Excellence in all of the services we provide.
At any one time 1% of the population stutters. This includes children, teenagers and adults. Unfortunately many myths and misconceptions about stuttering are still circulating. Public awareness about stuttering is often poor and this can lead to a general lack of tolerance and understanding. Sometimes people who stutter, or their family, do not know who to approach for help or even that effective help is available.
