Welcome to the Sidney Museum, Sidney, CanadaSidney By-The-Sea has a very interesting Historical Museum operated by the Society of Saanich Peninsula Museums and is devoted to the history of the early lives of Sidney and North Saanich pioneers, portrayed through photographs and artifacts. The Museum is located at 2423 Beacon Avenue (corner of 4th Street).
Sidney Museum and Archives offers research facilities in the Archival Department of the Museum at 656-1322. Please call for further information
In addition to the displays, Sidney Museum and Archives has very active educational programs for students in grades K - 12. The programs are available by reservation from September to June.
The Historical Museum is housed in the lower floor of the old Post Office building, and is devoted to the history of the Saanich Peninsula and the town of Sidney-by-the-Sea. Photographs explore the stories of settlers such as the Brethour brothers, and the Roberts family, while brickmolds and egg crates create connections with Peninsula businesses of the past. Insight into turn of the century domestic life is given with displays such as "Critchley's Store", "the Classroom" and "The Kitchen".
