The Malthouse has been offering the finest amber nectar for going on 7 years now.. but the building has much older tales to tell!

47 Willlis Street has been home to a succession of fine drinking establishments since it was first built in 1910. God knows how many people have sat at tables - or lain underneath them since that date.

In fact here in 1910 was Wellington's first and finest hotel - all five stories of it!!
Somewhere we lost three stories - must have been one hell of a party!!!

Another interesting Maltie fact? The building used to be at water's edge on Wellington's waterfront! That was the beach line at the turn of the century before the council decided to create more space by reclaiming part of the harbour!
