Lucy's Kitchen

Lucy's Kitchen in Akumal, Tulum, Mexico | Food

Lucy's Kitchen opened in early 2003. We served lunches for a short time, delighting (I think) locals and visitors to Akumal with selections such as Pad Thai, potstickers and sushi, among others. However we soon became known, and maybe a little famous, for our handmade ice cream.
For me, cooking is an expression of creativity, and I love trying new things. I like to experiment with recipes and inspirations until they are 'just right'. At Lucy's Kitchen we're sticklers for authenticity, and if there's a shortcut to doing something, we generally don't take it! This means our spices are roasted in house and ground by hand, we don't use cans (except for coconut milk), and our ice cream and pastas are made from SCRATCH. It doesn't seem to be a popular concept in these days of fast Food, and we call it cooking with heart.
Now at the end of 2004, we are expanding our production to include homemade pastas and sauces! Our goal is to be able to give you, whether you're a local or a visitor, the option of eating at home (or your home away from home), with a minimum of shopping and cooking. Just order and pick up some delicious, fresh pasta and sauce, and perhaps along with a bottle of wine (and Lucy's Ice Cream for dessert!) you'll have a simple, quick and exquisite meal.
