Welcome to The Falls Backpackers, The Catlins, Otago, New Zealand. The Falls Backpackers is situated 15 kilometres from Owaka on our farm, and is only a short walk to the well known Purakaunui Falls, where you can also see glowworms at night.
This is a good central location to base yourself while you explore our beautiful district - The Catlins, Otago.
We transported this large old home on the back of a truck in October 2000, and we have been busily renovating ever since. We opened for our first Backpackers on the 7th January 2001.
We can accommodate 9 people and have a beautiful large double room with a lovely bay window which looks out into the paddocks. We have a fully equipped kitchen and tea and coffee is provided. Outside we have a large deck where you can sit and look down the valley, or over to Purakaunui Bay. The beds are all completely made up with sheets, pillows, duvets and electric blankets to keep you snug! We also provide towels at no extra cost.
