Welcome to Craigiewood Bed and Breakfast in Inverness, Highland, Scotland. The house is ideally situated for short trips to Inverness and Loch Ness. Cawdor and Brodie Castles, Culloden and Fort George are all within easy reach.
Northward are the Cromarty and Dornoch Firths with historic and attractive maritime towns and villages.
Craigiewood is an excellent starting point for more ambitious journeys to the West Coast. Inverewe, Ullapool, Gairloch, Loch Maree, Torridon and Skye are an easy day trip away.
Craigiewood is also well placed for a stop-over en-route to the Orkney Islands. The ferry terminals are about two and a half hours distant, by road.
The house, in its own six acres of land, is only 4 miles from Inverness on the Black Isle but is located in an isolated area of superb countryside.
Overlooking Munlochy Bay to the north, it has unsurpassed views westwards through Strathconon and Glens Orrin and Affric. On a clear day we can see a Sister of Kintail, 44 miles away.
Locally there are spectacular walks on the headland from where you may see the famous Moray Firth Dolphins and other unusual wild life. The Red Kite is common in this area.
The twin room with en-suite bathroom is on the ground floor and the window faces south onto the garden. The matching beds are 6ft 6" by 3ft 3" and are equipped with electric blankets and there is an en-suite bathroom. There is a built-in wash hand basin with cupboard space beneath. In addition there is a built-in wardrobe and antique chest of drawers and mirror.
The adjoining bathroom has a basin, lavatory and a 6ft bath with hair-wash shower head. It is decorated with hand painted flowers.
The twin room upstairs is spacious and has a southward view over the garden into a birch wood. There is ample drawer space and a walk-in wardrobe.
The shower room is en-suite and is equipped with an electric shower, wash basin and lavatory.
One of your hosts, Gavin, is an experienced garden designer and plantsman. While you are staying at Craigiewood he will take you on a tour of the Northern Highlands most beautiful and interesting gardens. Some of these gardens are private and not usually open to the public.
Guests are encouraged to use the drawing room which is for their exclusive use. It is equipped with a warm stove for the cooler evenings.There is a television and a wide selection of brochures and books which we hope will be of interest to our guests.
