Bucharest Botanical Garden in Bucharest, Romania, was established in 1860 and the aim of this cultural, educational and research institute is to create an awareness in the public on the importance of nature through conservation of plants. The botanical garden is divided into several sectors, the decorative section was established in 1956, and welcomes visitors to the Gardens with a decorative diversity of colorful flowers and herbaceous plants.The iris collection is home to more than 100 varieties of the remarkable Iris germanica, and are resplendent in colour. The rare plant section was established in 1962, and houses numerous rare or threatened species that are now protected to grow in natural conditions. Bucharest Botanical Garden offers a range of educational activities for scholars and the general public specifically designed according to age groups.
