Situated in the picturesque Monkey Valley Resort in Noordhoek, Thorfynns is a Restaurant which is filled with charm and character, and the name itself is steeped in history. The owner of the resort Judy Sole (born Topping) named the Restaurant after her ancient Viking descendants whose surname was originally â??thorfynnâ?. During the great consonant changes over the centuries, Thorfynn became Thorpyn, Torpin and eventually Topping!
The farmhouse-style Restaurant features an old fashioned fire place which is complimented by wooden floors and furniture. There are superb views from the windows overlooking the tree canopy to Noordhoek beach and the turquoise blue sea beyond. A well planned outside deck offers additional seating for those who enjoy al fresco dining when the weather is good, and there is a light meals menu for the deck which offers a selection of toasted sandwiches, burgers, etc. as well as a childrenâ??s menu.
