If you wish to raft some of New Zealand's most exciting white water then you should join a trip with Rangitata Rafts. The river trip begins on flat water beautifully situated at the base of the Two Thumb mountain range. The mountain backdrop was also the sight for Edoras, Lord of the Rings.
This quiet stretch of water allows everyone time to learn safety and paddle instructions.
The river then travels through the narrow gorge and the rapids build in a natural progression. The two grade 5 rapids (the most exciting commercially rafted) are closer to the end. If people prefer they can walk around these rapids with our photographer.

Join our bus daily from Christchurch or drive yourselves to our Rafting base near Peel Forest, off the main highway from Christchurch to Queenstown.
We operate one scheduled trip per day to ensure we all have time to enjoy the day and get to know our fellow rafters. The day begins with an early fresh lunch at our lodge before changing into the comfort and safety equipment provided.
After 2.5 hours of exciting Rafting it is time to return to our lodge for hot showers and a relaxing BBQ.
Our bus departs Christchurch at 8.15am and returns 7pm. Or self drive to our lodge by 10.30am.
