The Consortium Spiaggia Viva has been in operation since 2001 and gathers the Beach
concessionaires of Lignano Sabbiadoro (Italy), Pineta and Riviera along the 8 km long
Friuli Beach. The consortium aims at promoting the development of local tourism through
qualitative services and entertainment activities on the shore while at the same time
protecting the environment.
In order to reach this goal, the majority of the concessionaires thought it necessary to join
individual forces in a single decision-making body expressing and representing their
environmental, institutional and commercial projects and problems.
The efforts of these past few years have been devoted to the continuous improvement
of the Beach cleaning and waste disposal services; the latter is already carried out in some
areas through separate collection of waste.
In various parts of the Beach the Consortium is equipped with defibrillators and,
in cooperation with the S.O.G.I.T. (a voluntary health association), it has trained the local
staff in first aid on the Beach. In order to make the Beach safe and to ensure highest
safety during the night as well, the night-watchman service has been remarkably
strengthened. All these features and the strong cooperation among the various
entrepreneurs make it easy to understand that the Consortium Spiaggia Viva is a very
good example of protection of the single enterprises as well as of development and
modernization of their location.
In our opinion, the joining of forces and efforts can be the right solution to improve quality, image and offer of tourism in the whole area.
