Swanbourne

Swanbourne is the fresh and breezy Perth suburb that claims the beach of the same name, one of the city’s most famous and most popular, about eight kilometres or so from the CBD. Why is it so famous? Because one half it requires one to wear bathers, the other half doesn't! It's also home to Swanbourne Barracks where they train members of Australia's elite Special Air Services Regiment, the SAS. Swanbourne has the extensive Lake Claremont on its south-eastern boundary.

It's a popular picnicking and barbecuing spot and hosts the Cottesloe Golf Club, named for the suburb to Swanbourne’s immediate south. One of Swanbourne’s great advantages is that it is close to the broad expanses of the Swan River. It’s just a short trip into the city and it’s even closer to the grand old port city of Fremantle to the south where the history and grandeur of the buildings is matched by the diversity and quality of the eateries and watering holes.
