St Agnes Museum

St Agnes Museum in St Agnes, Cornwall, United Kingdom | Museum

Welcome to St Agnes Museum, St. Agnes, United Kingdom. St Agnes Museum is full of fascinating artefacts and information about the Parish of St. Agnes. There's lots about our rich mining and maritime history with a detailed model of the former harbour and our fabulous Lady Agnes figurehead.  There are items relating to agriculture, a colourful natural history display and a fine mineral collection.  We have important paintings by two local nineteenth century artists - a self portrait by John Opie R.A. and a portrait by Edward Opie R.A. of his father which we were able to purchase with the help of grants from The Art Collections Fund, The V&A Arts Purchase Fund and The Cornwall Heritage Trust as well as local donations.

We have a shop at St Agnes Museum, packed with interesting books and gifts with a local flavour plus many small pocket money items for children. St Agnes Museum welcomes families. We offer a free Cuckoo Hunt Trail around the Museum for 7-11 year olds, with stickers for those who complete it. For our younger visitors, aged 3-7, we have a story "Sam and the Leatherback Turtle" to listen to, and an exciting Treasure Chest to explore, filled with puppets of sea creatures, jigsaws, books, and more.  We warmly welcome contact with schools. For schools visiting the Museums we offer a series of Victorian Life worksheets based on authentic source materials, with Teachers' Notes, based on our listed Victorian Museum building, mining, maritime activities, and 19th century Parish life.

You can become a member of the St Agnes Museum Trust and help us to celebrate the history of the Parish of St. Agnes. Benefits include a yearly journal and regular newsletters.  Annual Membership costs: Single - £8 Family - £10 Overseas - £14, Life Membership: £100
