Sivagiri Mutt in Varkala, Kerala, India was built in 1904 and is a pilgrimage centre attracting thousands of devotees to the final resting place of the Sree Narayana Guru or Samadi, during the Sivagiri Pilgrimage days 30 December to 1 January. Colourful processions, debates and seminars, public meetings, cultural shows, community feasts, group wedding and rituals mark the celebrations of the birthday and samadhi day of the Guru.
