Raintree Lodge in Suva, Rewa, Fiji | Lodge

Welcome to Raintree Lodge, Suva, Fiji. Raintree Lodge is sited on Naulukaroa [which in Fijian means "head of the clan"] on what was once a volcanic plug. The site became a basalt quarry in the 1950’s -1970’s, supplying rock for road building. In 1994 the abandoned quarry was leased and developed as a plant nursery and landcaping business, retaining the 2 lakes but involving substantial changes to the drainage and contours of the site (the small pond near the front entrance and the channel between the two lakes was created at this time).

In late 1998 work began to build Fiji’s first designed eco-tourist resort on the site. Features of this design include recycling of all "grey" water and triple filtering of toilet waste, composting of all paper and vegetable matter, no pesticides and wherever possible food is home-grown or organic.

Timber buildings are carefully sited amongst trees and boulders (only 1 tree was removed during construction), with views over the lakes - accommodation caters for backpackers in one section of the property ( 3 dormitories with self catering kitchen and toilet/shower blocks with hot water showers) and couples/families in another section (4 detached Bures)

A restaurant, bar, shop and reception/office near the front entrance caters for both guests and locals.
