Orkney Faerie Museum

Orkney Faerie Museum in Westray, Orkney Islands, United Kingdom | Museum

Welcome to the Orkney Faerie Museum based in Westray, one of the Northern Isles of Orkney, United Kingdom. The Orkney Faerie Museum is believed to be the only one of its kind in the United Kingdom. Featuring the art of international artist Neil Geddes-Ward, co-author of the Hay House UK book Faeriecraft, the Museum taps into the Orcadian legends and tales of Faeries, Wee Folk, Trows, Mermaids and many more strange and interesting creatures that have played a part in the folk legends of Orkney and Scotland.

The Museum is based in a converted old croft house in Skelwick, Westray, (known as 'Queen of the Isles'). In the Museum and gallery, you can read all about faeries, and their various forms they take such as Brownies, Trows, Sylphs, Mermaids and of course Selkies. Featuring artwork by Neil Geddes-Ward, and one of a kind sculptures by 'Wee Fairy Tales' artist Shirley Ann Mackillop, the displays appeal to adult and children alike.

The Orkney Faerie Museum is developing the attractions and there are prints, cards, faerie doors, faerie dust and relaxation CDs in the gift shop. You can also buy a signed copy of Faeriecraft and meet the authors! Saturday's is a special attraction when we have a special children's story telling at 3pm.
