Welcome to The La Jolla Cove Bridge Club in California, United States. The La Jolla Cove Bridge Club, located within the Ellen Browning Scripps Park at the La Jolla Cove, was built in 1939, a project of the WPA (Works Project Administration). The Riford Room was an addition that was donated by Mrs. Florence Riford. The Club facility once included a shuffleboard court, but that was removed and replaced by lawn, plants, flowers and trees in the mid-1990's.
The large main room, measuring approximately 25 feet by 45 feet, is light and airy, with one entire wall filled with windows overlooking the ocean; the opposite wall overlooks the patio and lawn. The room contains six columns, enhancing the appearance. It is estimated that this room will comfortably accommodate up to 100 people, seated at tables.
There is a separate entertainment room, perfect for music and dancing. This room has hardwood floors, eliminating the need for bringing in a dance floor. The room is furnished with several sofas, chairs and tables. These, along with the potted plants, create a beautiful atmosphere for dancing or simply listening to the music. The walls in this room are hand-painted by Rik Erickson as well. It is estimated that about 50 or 60 people can fit into this room while dancing.
The outdoor patio, approximately 70 feet by 14 feet, is a perfect location for serving food or drinks.
The lawn adjacent to the patio is accessible to the general public. Use of this area is on a "first come" basis. A natural boundary is formed on the perimeter of the lawn by bushes, plants and walkways.
The north area of the lawn is perfect for a wedding ceremony. Your guests will be able to view the ocean and the hills and homes across the ocean.
