Welcome to Hunter Pasta Master in Hunter Valley, Australia. For many years, Sandalyn Estate hosted Hunter Pasta Master, Hunter Valley's only hands on Pasta making classes held in the unique surroundings of underground cellar in an atmosphere of wine and olive oil production and all set in the grounds of one of Australia's beautiful, boutique, Tuscan inspired vineyard and olive groves.
Hunter Pasta Master offers a new experience with a wider choice of Mediterranean Cuisine presided over by celebrated Restaurateur and caterer, Norman Topp.
Classes at Hunter Pasta Master commence with a short olive oil appreciation class using some of the Hunters finest extra virign oils and setting the scene for the complete Mediterranean experience. Participants are the directed to the underground cellar where you will be confirmed as a honorary member of the Bacchus Downunder Club for the day entitling you to special discounts on wine purchases from the cellar door.
The first known noodles date from 2000BC from the Yellow River in China. The thin noodles .03 centimeters recently found, in a bowl, yellow in colour. Made with ground millet they were stretched repeatedly by hand and were introduced to Japan during the Eastern Han Dynasty AD25 -220.
Marco Polo late in the 13th century returned from China
with recipes and the technology. The names of various Pastas derive from Italy. Linguine means "little tongues". Tortellini "little cakes" Ravioli "little pouches" Penne "quills". Vermicelli "little worms" while Pasta "dough or paste". While you are with us you will experience the joy of Pasta making.
We start with an olive oil appreciation and tasting along with a history of olive oil growing in Australia. Then to the cellar of the winery where you are taught the ancient art of Pasta making. Participants then move to the cellar door for a wine tasting.
There are two Pastas made on the day with different sauces for each. Salad and bread are supplied and at the end of the meal there is a dessert made by The Hunter Pasta Master.
Wine is served to everyone during the day and they recieve a 15% discount on any products they purchase from the cellar door on that day.
