The Forest History Center in Salem, Oregon has a mission and that is to preserve the history of forestry in Oregon and to make such information available to the public. They have displays of fire training and tools dating back to the 1930's and some of the tools are still used by firefighters today including the Hazel hoe, Pulaski, shovel, and axe. The building that houses the Forest History Center was originally built in 1936 for the Civilian Conservation Corps or CCC and is now a place to learn about the forestry history in Oregon and it's legacy. Currently on display, visitors can see logging and firefighting tools, reforestation, learn about large Forest Fires in Oregon and so much more, come for a fascinating visit.
