Beaverstown Golf Club

Beaverstown Golf Club in Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland | Golf

Beaverstown Golf Club in Dublin County is one of the hidden gems of Golf in Ireland. Its unique design, laid out among 36 acres of mature apple trees and bordering the shores of Rogerstown estuary, makes the best use of these and its other natural features,  six lakes and a stream which meanders through the course.
With water coming into play on twelve holes and the aforementioned apple trees lining eight holes, premium is placed on accuracy off the tee, providing a testing challenge to Golfers of all abilities.
Beaverstown Golf Club was originally designed in 1982 by the legendary Eddie Hackett (Old Head of Kinsale, Connemara, Waterville, Enniscrone,) and remodelled by Peter McEvoy OBE (Fota Island, Rathsallagh, Powerscourt), thus  the course is a true test of Golf.
The time has come to try it for yourself.
Beaverstown Golf Club was originally the home of Lamb Brothers fruit farm the producers of the famous Fruitfield jams.  When it ceased operations in the early 1980’s, the land was bought by a local businessman with the intentions of making it into a Golf and Country Club.
However, despite an intensive advertising campaign and the retention of the late Eddie Hackett (Enniscrone, Waterville, Old Head of Kinsale and Ballybunion) to design the course, the project ran into some financial difficulties.   By this stage some 60 members had subscribed to join and faced the loss of their investment.  Following a meeting of these members, a group of 20 invested £5,000 each to satisfy the bank and purchase the land.
In 1999, with the Donabate area of County Dublin experiencing growth, and with tremendous foresight, the then committee saw the threat of housing bounding the Beaverstown Golf Club’s property and engaged Peter McEvoy, the British Amateur Open Champion (77 & 78) and victorious Walker Cup Captain (99 & 01), to remodel the lay-out.   Having previously created or remodelled the impressive Powerscourt, Fota Island, Glen of the Downs and Rathsallagh, to name just a few, it is a measure of the quality of the new lay-out that Beaverstown can proudly rank among these prestigious clubs.To-day, Beaverstown Golf Club is prominent in the list of top clubs, being regularly called upon to host GUI and ILGU competitions.  If visitor numbers is a barometer, then Beaverstown Golf Club’s name will continue to be high on the list of “must play” cours
