Anglesea Hotel

Anglesea Hotel in Anglesea, Victoria, Australia | Hotel

Anglesea Hotel has a long history in hospitality. The present Hotel has been remodelled and extended from its original design of 1903 when it was named the Anglesea River Hotel and was a Cobb & Co stopping point, but its history goes back even further than that. Alice Jackson an early settler was one of the first to recognise the seaside settlement's potential for holidaymakers and from 1886 ran an imposing guesthouse establishment named 'Anglesea House' on the site.

It remains the heart of the village, patronised by both locals and visitor. Upgraded in 1995 it is now a modern establishment, with a TAB facility attached to a cosy public bar, enhanced by an open wood fire for winter warmth. Delicious meals can be enjoyed either at the bar, or inside or out of the large family restaurant that serves up well priced, a la carte, bistro-style meals. Augmented by daily specials, the menu features fresh seafood laced with many Aussie favourites and is complemented by a constantly updated wine list. The homemade pasta dishes are delicious and, by popular choice, have become the restaurant's signature dish.

Special events can by ably catered for in the function room that is the venue for the popular, annual, Anglesea Summer Ball and the stage for regular live entertainment. Throughout the summer, family nights are a constant feature at the Hotel, with entertainment slanted towards children, but anytime of year parents can relax over dinner while kids make the most of the children's playroom attached to the restaurant. The Anglesea Hotel also has holiday accommodation available and with its close proximity to the beach the comfortable rooms are a natural choice for visitors to the area.
