Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2011 statement

A new class is added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame annually. This is in Cleveland, Ohio too. It is an honor to be put to the hall. This is because some of the biggest names in popular audio are in there. BBC accounts that Neil Diamond, Tom Waits, New Orleans audio legend Dr. John, Phil Spector, Darlene Love and Alice Cooper were all listed for this year’s class. Alice Cooper was previously thought to be one of the biggest snubs by the Hall, and several have alleged that punk rock and heavy metal do not get a fair shake. Also inducted are Elektra Records head Jac Holzman, Specialty Records head Art Rupe and session musician Leon Russell.

Hall of Fame to go to

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame explained that after 25 years of releasing their first record, artists become eligible to be within the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A committee is put together yearly in order to talk about recording and performing artists along with those who had been significant in rock and roll history that were not performers for instance executives, producers, recording engineers and studio musicians who could possibly be inducted. The Hall selects are sent out with 500 ballots to experts who then vote on it. Enough votes will get a nominees to the Hall of Fame. This is what performers, non-performers, early influences and side people hope for.

Debate over nominees

Lots of controversy is surrounding the Hall. This is because only popular bands are nominated typically. You will find never nominations for bands such as Rush and Deep Purple the Rolling Stone magazine and publisher Jann Wenner do not particularly care for. The majority are upset about this saying that they have too much influence within the nominations.
