The Vizhinjam International SeaPort in Trivandrum, Kerala, India is a transhipment deepwater multipurpose seasPort designed to primarily cater container transhipment, besides break bulk cargo and multipurpose. The Port consists of 2,000mtrs of container berth with a draught of 18.4mtrs and is currently being further developed a transhipment hub, to cater to current large mother vessels with a capacity of 18,000 TEU. The Vizhinjam International SeaPort is owned by the government of Kerala, and advantages include availability of a 20m contour within one nautical mile from the coast, minimal litoral drift along the coast with hardly any maintenance dredging required, links to national and regional roads and the rail network, flexibility in design and expansion with a certified Greenfield project and the proximity to the international shipping route.
