The Priest Hole

The Priest Hole in Ambleside, Cumbria, United Kingdom | A la Carte Restaurants

The Priest Hole restaurant, Ambleside, serves a mouthwatering, mediterranean and english menu, all prepared in our own kitchens. Situated in the 16th Century Kelsick Hall in Ambleside,in the United Kingdom,  with it's lovingly restored oak panelling, floorboards and fireplaces.

With a lively relaxed atmosphere, you can join us at The Priest Hole for a simple pasta or salad dish, or a delicious three course meal.  Why not finish off with possibly the best sticky toffee pudding in the Lake District?

Gary and Shirley Mickelfield took over what was then Lynchristies in April 2001 and with some trepidation completely changed the menu and style to it's present, Mediterranean and English menu. The aim at The Priest Hole was to reproduce the style of the restaurants we all love so much on holiday, laid back, friendly and relaxed, where you can eat anything from a bowl of pasta and a beer to a three course meal with a good quality wine. The food is all home-cooked with many dishes of our own design, some traditional and some borrowed.  At The Priest Hole we use the best produce, where possible sourced locally with no GM foods, tins or packets. Our treacle bread is world famous and our sticky toffee pudding is earning a reputation as possibly the best in Cumbria. We have been staggered by the response of both the people of Ambleside and the holidaymakers who have been returning again and again,  making reservations essential for Fridays, Saturdays and school holidays.
