The Oakville Historical Society in Oakville, Ontario, was established in 1953 by Hazel Chisholm Mathews, and the aim and commitment of this Historical Society is to discover, preserve, promote and share the historical heritage of our town. The main reference library at Oakville Historical Society contains more than 1500 works that involve arts, crafts, costumes, family histories and genealogies and many other items, and there is a separate section to assist with genealogical research. The Oakville Historical Society is proud of its extensive collections containing original documents, diaries, maps, pictures and more, and we also offer historical talks and historical walking tours.
