Murlough National Nature Reserve in Dundrum, County Down, Ireland is a 6000 year old sand dune system with breathtaking dune landscape, with a network of paths and boardwalks through the dunes, woodland and heath, and is owned by the National Trust. The area is excellent for walking and bird life and has one of the finest beaches in the county, plus there are over 600 species of butterflies and moths here, and home to wintering wildfowl and waders. Murlough National Nature Reserve offers guided nature walks and volunteer events with school groups are welcome, and the self guided nature trail include a leaflet explaining what can be seen at stopping point. There are BBQ friendly picnic tables, toilets, as well as family fun events in summer and a children's nature trail quiz, come explore this beautiful area and diverse landscape.
