Manx Aviation and Military Museum in Ballasalla, Isle of Man, was officially opened in 2000, and is dedicated to all the people who played their part in wartime services, and people who lost their lives in aviation accidents during the war or in peace times. One of the main aims of the museum is to enlighten visitors on the important part that the Isle of Man played during WWII, and the aviation and military heritage as a result thereof. Manx Aviation and Military Museum is run by volunteers of The Manx Aviation Preservation Society, and generously give up their free time in the interests of aviation and military history. The reception area of the museum displays a large relief map which depicts wartime military installations and many of the aircraft crash sites, and the exhibition rooms have generous displays of exhibits, models, wartime stories as well as actual aircraft crash parts which have been successfully recovered. Manx Aviation and Military Museum honours all those who served their Island in the name of freedom, and everyone else involved in wartime services.
