Laugharne Castle

Laugharne Castle in Laugharne, Carmarthenshire, United Kingdom | Castle

Laugharne Castle in Laugharne, Wales, is an impressive medieval Castle that was built by the de Brian family in the 13th century, and in later years was transformed into a beautiful Elizabethan mansion. The civil war did much damage to the Castle, and extensive restoration works which included a charming Victorian garden, this popular tourist attraction was amazingly restored. In the Victorian summerhouse the poet Dylan Thomas was able to create many well-loved masterpieces. A striking medieval domed roof, located in the north west tower of Laugharne Castle highlights the skill of medieval masons, as this dome is still intact today.
