Situated in a unique part of old AmblesideHow Head Barn, a very attractive accommodation, is part of the ancient Ambleside Hall at How Head, in a quiet location just above the modern town centre. How Head Barn, at least four centuries old, is now divided into several residences of great character and this part of it has been converted to make a charming ground floor flat for self-catering, as well as offering Bed & Breakfast accommodation on the first floor.

The resident proprietor, Mrs Valerie Walker, is normally available to welcome you and assist with enquiries, ensuring your stay is happy and comfortable.

A warm and friendly atmosphere welcomes you to this ancient building.   From the dining room you have a vista that encompases Loughrigg and as far as Claife Heights in the United Kingdom.  A secured shed for bikes and off-road parking is also available.

How Head Barn is close to Ambleside and all its amenities and good walks. Friendly and welcoming with bedrooms that have lovely views and are clustered round a bath/shower area. It is situated in a quiet area but near to the Golden Rule and Unicorn. The wholesome cooked breakfast has local bacon and sausage but there is a vegetarian and continental alternative.  How Head Barn can provide packed lunches on request  as well as help and support for walkers. How Head Barn have flexible arrival times.

Bed & Breakfast accommodation at How Head Barn is on the first floor, via a spiral staircase with handrail. There is one double-bedded room and two singles, one of which has a 4ft bed. The rooms are not en-suite. If the self catering flat is not occupied, it can be booked for Bed & Breakfast.
