Welcome to Griffen House in Niagara on the Lake in Canada. Built in 1833, Griffen House, a charming three bedroom home, is the essence of Niagara on the Lake. Griffen House is surrounded by a white picket fence, with a cozy front porch, large rear deck overlooking beautiful gardens, bedrooms with dormer ceilings, country kitchen and antique furnishings. Nice walk to the lake and town centre of Niagara on the Lake. Griffen House can accommodate 6 guests comfortably. Families welcome. Fully equipped kitchen, linens, laundry facilities. No smoking indoors and no pet.
This 175 year old treasure has been lovingly cared for and tastefully decorated by it's owners. Located on a quiet, tree-lined street overlooking a pretty park, your "home away from home" is only .8 km from the center of historic old town.
In 2002, Cathy and Jim Rye bought the house as a second home and make it available for rent to discerning tourist. They now live in Florida, but Cathy was born and raised in nearby St. Catharines.
The Griffin House was named in memory of Cathy's grandmother, Mary Griffin. Mary's family was of British descent, having migrated to Nassau, Bahamas in the early 1600's. Mary emigrated as a bride to the Niagara area in the early 1900's and one of her favorite pastimes was visiting Niagara on the Lake for ice-cream.
The Ryes are proud of the Griffin House and hope you enjoy your visit there as much as they do.
